I’m a sucker for a creative idea, just give me something out of the ordinary and I go practically week at the knees.
No longer does a table plan have to mean boring and conventional, you can make a real feature with your seating chart and give your guests a little something to chat over as they hunt for where they’re seated.
This idea I particularly love (in fact everything about the whole wedding I love, so do go check out the rest here). Lavender pots with printed wooden escort cards, genius idea, looks so pretty and I bet it smelt divine too.
So did you love {Part 1} of Mie and Nathan’s pretty ‘California Love’ wedding featuring their ceremony and couple shots? The wedding was captured by Craig and Beka Schott of Mod Photography.
And as promised {Part 2}, featuring their reception at the french restaurant La Vie En Rose, is just as lovely….
? ? ? ? ?
Beka of Mod Photography told me “Nathan and Mie are SO cool that they brought a Polaroid camera and film for us to use during their reception!…
I love those polaroid and Holga shots, adds a whole new dimension to the photography don’t you think? Once again please do join me in congratulating the happy couple Mie and Nathan and a massive thanks too to Craig and Beka Schott of Mod Photography for sharing these images.
I hope you had a fantabulous extended weekend and got up to lots of fun and exciting things. Plenty of wedding planning shennanigans for all you brides-to-be I imagine.
Well lets kick off this shorter-than-usual-week with a little wedding eye-candy shall we?
Now I always find it so hard when I’m editing a wedding for the blog to cut down on the images the photographer sends to me. Today is certainly no exception, every single one I look at has some part of the story attached to it, like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle and without it the story feels incomplete. So in the end I usually end up featuring the majority of the images as I like my love stories to be complete, and most definitely with a happy ending. Yes?
? ? ? ? ?
Well this is certainly one of those happy endings and one gorgeous couple, Mie and Nathan. Pretty creative too I may add, they created and designed the invitations themselves and all their other paper products at the reception. Aside from the bridal bouquet, they created all of their own floral arrangements using potted plants and herbs from their garden too. And doesn’t it just look fantastic? Such pretty purple details and I am loving the natural light in these photos, so dreamy, so romantic and I’m definitely having a California dreaming moment.
The day was captured by Craig and Beka Schott of Mod Photography who also photographed the insanely brilliant Bicycle wedding that I featured last week. Man I love these two, I could stare at their pictures all day long.
Beka told me “Craig and I photographed Nathan and Mie’s wedding and what a fun event! We started the day off with some posed photos at Villa del Sol, then headed over to the Fullerton Arboretum for family shots and their beautiful ceremony under a tree. Afterward, we wandered through the arboretum for more fun photos and then headed over to La Vie en Rose for an intimate dinner celebration. At the end of the day we had trekked over 6 miles! Nathan and Mie set aside a lot of time for photos during their day and we had a great time with them”
I am sooo impressed that they designed all of this themselves. Wow.
Loving these letters, makes a really interesting and quirky picture, they can double up as decor on your wedding table too.
I love the shadows on these pictures – so pretty.
So beautiful, even the pretty petals down the aisle are matching. Style.
? ? ? ? ?
Aren’t they just adorable? Huge congratulations to Mie and Nathan, I wish you a lifetime of happiness and hope you continue to smile as bright as you did on this day. Thanks too to Craig and Beka Schott of Mod Photography for sharing these images, I remain your biggest fan.
Do check back later for Part 2 of this luscious California Love wedding.
Wedding guest books don’t have to be about the bog-standard and conventional book that your guests sign. They can also be a decor feature in themselves, in this case a work of art.
I adore this idea, a dramatic butterfly art installation
I don’t know about you but I LOVE reading magazines. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogs with all my heart and that’s what I read on a daily basis (just check out my link loves to the side and you will see I read a lot), but there’s just something about kicking back for an hour or so with a great glossy that cannot be matched, it is my idea of bliss.
BUT this little pastime of mine can end up costing a small fortune, so I have had to severely limit the amount that I buy. (Instead I do a sneaky round of the local coffee shops and read theirs for free).
There are a few wedding magazines that I love but again I can’t afford to be splashing out on all of them every month so I have to chop and change which ones I read, each month I will buy one or two of these…..Brides, Wedding Magazine, You and Your Wedding, Wedding Ideas and Cosmo Bride. Just so I can see what’s going on in this industry and keep abreast of it all.
It’s important for me however,as someone obsessed with design and creativity, to look beyond wedding magazines, and the wedding industry even. Both for inspiration and to fulfill my need for regular and kick-ass design candy. So I LOVE looking through design titles too, and some of these guys are really paving the way for their stylish and original content, as well as the way they deliver it (many of them online and many for FREE – I do love that word)
My current favourites are these ones which can be viewed entirely online – I know this is kinda going against what I said above, but if you kick-back with it on a laptop (or iPad if you’re really swish) and view full screen it almost feels like the real thing – plus they’re free and for that I LOVE THEM.
Rue Magazineis full to bursting with design inspiration and features a lot of bloggers and small independents, which I admire them for doing, it’s mainly US but still great inspiration nonetheless. I read this cover to cover last week and was so disappointed when I reached the end, I’d devoured all 180 pages and still wanted more.
Lonny Magazine – Another US online mag, Lonny highlights extraordinary interiors, innovative bloggers, and the latest market finds. And it’s always soooo chic I love it.
Covet Garden – Again can be viewed online for FREE. It’s a different kind of design mag that features real homes by real people, nothing styled by designers, they say they are ‘inspirational not aspirational’. The current issue takes a look inside the home of Moira a 1950′s enthusiast.
Anthology Magazine(and the inspiration behind this post title) - This one is actually available in print ( From Anthropology stores in UK or by subscription) but you can take a peek at a free preview online. Each issue of Anthology Magazineexplores a theme. For their third issue, they focus on the notion that life is a party – and if the first 25 pages are anything to go by then the rest will be fantabulous, can’t wait to get my hands on a full copy. Eunice and Sabrina of Hello Lucky stationery feature in this issue and I was so pleased to see Eunice’s wedding ceremony arch being put to good use as decor in her living room.
And finally S Magazine, this is a portuguese publication, available online and also in English. Yeay. This one came to my attention because the legend that is Brancoprata(wedding stylists) created a to-die-for styled shoot for them and I am so pleased I found it. Seriously beautiful eye-candy.
So this little lot certainly keeps me busy and is probably only about a quarter of what I actually read, I am a constant consumer of information, like a sponge, and I would rather be reading things like this that inspire me to push my creative boundaries than wasting time watching the dross we have on TV nowadays.
So does anyone else read these titles? Can you recommend any others?. I would love to find more of these online titles within the UK, they do seem to be quite lacking.Maybe I should just start my own – ooh Epic Idea Alert!!!
The stop-motion video above is by Anthology Magazine…..print is certainly not dead .
So I hope you have been enjoying your long bank-holiday weekend so far.
I’ve been dreaming this weekend of long lazy picnics, aren’t they just the ultimate in romance? So in the interests of nurturing the romantics amongst us here’s a little al-fresco dining inspiration to have you dreaming of pretty meadows and buckets of fizz. Ah bliss.
Thought I’d share this super cute short video with you, man some people are just so creative, I love everything about this, it is so quirky and original. My fave part is the confetti throw at the end and the song is just lush.
Just a quickie note to let you know I am now on Pinterest. Well I have been for a while actually and it’s fair to say I am a little bit obsessed with it. This tongue-in-cheek graphic pretty much sums up why.
If you are looking for a way of keeping track of all your favourite wedding finds and inspiration then I’d recommend you get yourself over to Pinterest. It’s like a virtual pinboard, you simply sign-up for a (free) account, then whenever you see something online that you like you use the ‘Pin It’ bookmark to save it and build up collections of the things you love, the beauty about this is that it also saves the original destination (or URL) that you pinned it from so you can always find your way back.
You can also follow the collections created by other people, so if you think, “I like what this persons bringing here – they got style” you can follow them on Pinterest.
I use mine all the time, particularly when I am working on creating inspiration boards for the blog or for my guest blog on Love My Dress. You can follow my Pinterest finds here.
Are you on Pinterest too? If you are I’d love to know and follow your finds, let me know in the comments below.
No doubt you are relaxing to the max this looooong bank-holiday weekend, or maybe you are getting married today. If so big Pocketful of Dreams love and good vibes being sent your way for an awesome day.
If like me you still need your wedding fix over the weekend then look no further as I have rounded up the very best of the best from across my wedding blog travels.
First off I have to give a little reminder of what’s been happening over here on these pretty pages…
Right here
? I had the most epic wedding ever on Thursday, Bicycle + Coffee + DIY = LOVE was split into 4 parts, yes that’s 4. Must be some kind of record for a blog post I’m thinking. Anyway you can start here with Part 1.
Best of British
Elsewhere in blog-land I have been very impressed by our British bloggers this week so here’s my round-up of their awesomeness for your viewing pleasure…..
? A very pretty ‘walled garden’ Mckinley-Rodgers wedding, and a beautiful love-story on Rock My Wedding this week, see Part 1 and Part 2 here.
?A 1950′s hen shoot on Beyond Beyond blew me away, so brilliant to see hen parties moving into the stylish realms rather than willy straws and L plates. This one is particularly gorgeous
? Yet another McKinley Rodgers wedding caught my eye this week, this time on Love My Dress. Sunshine and pretty vintage roses can be seen here.
And if that’s not enough excitement, check-out the image at the top. Do you love it? Well you will get to see the entire wedding later on next week so keep your eyes peeled.
So come on then, hands-up, who’s looking forward to another long bank-holiday weekend. Me, Me, Me!!
Heck yes, I am sooo looking forward to this weekend, I cannot tell you just how much. I will be spending it catching up with family and friends, eating way too much, maybe having a *few drinky-poos (*read: a lot) and just generally chillaxing. I’ve worked hard recently and I deserve a break. I’m hoping for some nice weather too so I can get outside in the fresh air, maybe head out somewhere random on a nice walk and brush up on my photography while I have the chance. I so need to learn how to use my Canon properly, in fact there’s so many things I ‘need’ to do that I just can’t seem to find the time for. But that’s another story.
How will you be spending your bank-holiday weekend?
? ? ? ? ?
So anyways here’s one to ease you into that weekend…..are you ready for this one people, it’s time to get your dancing shoes on and marvel at the wonders of wedding dances.
My dance of the week goes to this fella, who has seriously ‘got the moves’.
I hope they bought him a drink or two after this little surprise…..
