Doing what I do I see a LOT of weddings and sometimes, something quite magical happens.
You see I love weddings, I love weddings of all shapes and sizes, but the ones I love the most, the ones that have that special place in my heart are the ones that truly reflect a couples own unique style and personality. The ones where they say ‘rule book-pah, let’s ditch that’ and ‘lets do this our way’.
Today is one of those magical days, one where I am literally jumping up and down in my little red chair as I’m writing this post with such excitement that I want everyone to see it RIGHT NOW.
The wedding in question is a London themed shindig that has cool-factor running through it’s blood. The creative couple at the helm are Catherine and Henri who met at Goldsmiths College in London where they were both studying music. And the lucky photographer who managed to capture the event, none other than Charley Smith, whose work has a ‘natural, spontaneous quality’, ‘creating images that both document the day and are pieces of art in their own right’. Oh yes this badboy is simply amazing, it’s fair to say ‘he’s kind of a big deal’, and I’m kind of a big fan.
I have also been lucky enough to have Catherine share the details behind her day and boy these details are good. So much thought has gone into absolutely everything and ‘Oh my. That dress’, this has got to be THE most original wedding dress on the planet ~ doesn’t it just look spectacular?.
Now I have rambled on way too long ~ so take it away Catherine…..

The Happy Couple
Originally Henri is from Finland and I’m from Luxembourg but we’ve been living in London for a long time now so this is really our home now.
Inspired by…
We wanted to have a wedding which would reflect the sort of things we like and how we live our lives. Nothing too ‘princessy’ but also not too casual. The main thing for us was really to be able to have all our family and friends with us to celebrate. It seemed easiest for everyone to have it in London.
DIY Designs
Henri wanted a Sixties suit which we found on ebay and I had always wanted a paper dress that would just keep for one day which I designed together with my friend Ellan Parry. Ellan is a scenographer and costume designer and we have previously worked on a project together for which she designed some clothes out of Tyvek Paper. Since then I always thought that this sort of thing would make a really fun wedding dress. So we got some materials from Berwick Street and then she made it.
The rings were also made by a friend of ours Anna Osmer Andersen who is a fantastic jeweller and designer. She had made my engagement ring so it was only natural that she would do our wedding bands as well. For mine she designed something that can go with or without the engagement ring.

Catherine and Henri I salute you for having the most amazing wedding day and totally doing it your way. I have loved reading your story and have looked over and over again at your amazing photos.
Please join me in wishing them all the best for a bright and happy future and show them some love, this wedding deserves to be talked about.
There was so much awesomeness that I couldn’t fit it all into one post so Part two will be coming up very, very soon. Make sure you call back later today for more stunning images and some very precious words of advice from Catherine for all you couples out there planning your own wedding day, plus all the details for the amazeballs suppliers who helped create this day. Huge credit to the fab photographer Charley Smith and a big thanks for sharing the images with me.
Much love,

Love this wedding! So much colour and fun! I love how it coordinates with your blog
This is just a colour explosion, such a stylish wedding. Who would have thought a wedding dress made our of paper could look so amazing. She looks so pretty and the dress is like a piece of couture.
