This dreamer Loves…..

You may have noticed I haven’t been posting anything on a Saturday for a while, mainly because I’ve had so much awesomeness squeezed into each week but also because I wasn’t sure if anyone actually reads my posts on a Saturday.

Well anywho, I still can’t fit everything into the weeks posts so I’m bringing back the Saturday….and basically all you’re getting is a round-up of lovely. Everything I’m swooning and sighing over each week, my fab discoveries that don’t quite fit anywhere else and my general I LOVE THIS list.

? I have a new obsession and it’s all things Glitter. To feed my obsession with a daily dose of glitter is The Glitter Guide whose mission is to provide glitz and glamour from anything from fashion to fitness, basically everything to do with a sparkly lifestyle. Being the voyeur that I am I’m particularly loving the Style at Home series where they follow someone fabulous and take a peek into their personal home style. My fave so far has to be fellow blogger and event stylist Tori of Sitting in a Tree events, her pad is so girly-delicious I haven’t stopped drooling since it was published. And now operation home make-over is in full effect.

They only launched back in June but already it’s proving to be packed full of brilliant features. Love it, can’t wait to see how this site develops, I’m their new biggest fan.

Rue magazine, issue 6, summer issue, online magazine, lifestyle, design, interiors, style, weddings

? The fabulous Rue magazine have launched their summer issue, number 6. This is an online magazine which I’ve bleeted about before now. It’s one of those I just can’t wait to come out and when it does, I sit and read it cover to cover (on a laptop of course as it’s an online mag). Get your peeps on Issue 6 here.

Glamour magazine blog screenshot

? And while I’m on the subject of magazines, I found out this week that my blog was mentioned by one of the magazines I’ve read and admired for years, Glamour….eeek. Pocketful of Dreams was mentioned on their blog, in the regular Save the Date section where they feature ‘The most genius wedding ideas of the week and wedding inspiration from around the web’. They featured this London design wedding by the fantabulous photographer Lee Robbins of Robbins Photographic, just check out the post and tell me you don’t agree his images are fantabulous. It’s a word.

Anyways I am so ridiculously chuffed that someone at Glamour Magazine is reading my blog in the first place, let alone the fact that they chose to share one of my posts with their readers. Glamour Mag, I love you. The link to the post on Glamour is here.

Hope you too have had a fab week, filled with lots of lovely things.

Dream Finds Friday ~ Inspiration Apples

Happy Friday everyone,

It’s time again for my blogging party Dream Finds Friday. Thank-you so much to everyone who took the time to share a link last week, I was so amazed by how many of you dropped by. I have to say judging by the stats this was a very popular post too, lots of visitors so looks like this is something you want to see more of.

Please remember if you like what you see here then let us know in the comments box below, blogging takes a lot of time and I pour my heart and soul into all my features so I’d love to know that I’m hitting the right spots and leaving you suitably inspired.

If you want to know more about the idea behind Dream Finds Friday then visit this link.

So this week I hope to see even more sharing going on of brilliant ideas, trusted words of wisdom, fab new products or tips for planning the perfect celebration.

Here’s my Dream Find for this week, and yes I know it’s another Etsy seller but really this place never ceases to amaze me. I always find something totally unique and creative on there and this is no exception.

Inspiration Apples by La Pomme on Etsy

Apples, Dream Finds Friday, Favours, Place Settings, Styling, Wedding Decor (2)

Dubbed Inspiration Apples, these handcrafted apples would make fab decor items on the wedding dinner table and something unique to give away to your guests.

They are handmade from cotton, stuffed with polyfill and the stems are actually licorice root. The seller is La Pomme in France and for just over £100 you get 12 apples with a mixture of the words Love, Peace and Happinesss typewritten across the leaves. Or if you prefer you can have wording of your choice, ie you can have your guests names typewritten on them.

Apples, Dream Finds Friday, Favours, Place Settings, Styling, Wedding Decor (1)

I think they’re so cute….they are on the expensive side but if it’s a smaller more intimate wedding then these would make perfect place settings which double up as favours, and ones I reckon people would want to keep on display when they get home.

Visit La Pomme on Etsy for further details.

Can’t wait to see your dream finds too……

A whimsical, homegrown farm wedding ~ Sallie and Nick

Today’s wedding is a little bit whimsical, a little bit 50′s, and full of love. Held on the brides family farm, it’s also a great example  of everyone pulling together to help create something rather special. The couple in question are Sallie and Nick and their photographer Sarah Whitmeyer of Whitmeyer Photography said “I spent the day with an old friend and her new husband on her family’s gorgeous land in Wake Forest, NC. The day was full of whimsy, love, and romance and I was thrilled to be a part of everything!

Sallie and I grew up on the stage together in Raleigh, NC doing musical theater! I was so thrilled when Sallie told me about her engagement and even more excited when I had the chance to meet Nick when they visited Asheville a while back.

The wedding day on their family farm was more than a success! Everyone chipped in and made this day truly spectacular for both Sallie and Nick! From the flowers to the perfect southern food, this event was homegrown and magical”

Love Story: A playful after-session for two artists ~ Autumn and Adam

Wedding Shoot, Photography, couple in love, bride and groom Tara Welch, Autumn and Adam, tissue pom poms, bunting, (2)

Good morning to you,

I have two rather lovely Love Stories to share with you today. Aren’t they always just lovely? There is something about staring at images of people in love that just warms the heart….it’s like my own form of therapy!!

Anyways, today we have a rather creative couple in the form of Autumn and Adam. Autumn is a jewelry and textile designer and Adam is a sculptor, you can view and buy his work here.

Their day-after session catured by Tara Welch Photography is a lot of fun, very playful and you can just tell how relaxed they feel. I love this idea of capturing those special moments the day after the wedding day, as to be honest it can go so quickly and be so hectic that this time is very precious, it’s when it’s all sinking in, the craziness of the wedding day is over and there’s just the two of you, in love. Who wouldn’t want to capture that feeling on camera forever?

And they have done it very stylishly, you can tell these two are artists as everything co-ordinates so well (obviously making use of their wedding decor the day after), from the colour of paint on their sign, to the fringed bunting and the tissue pom-poms. These are all great prop ideas, that are quite easy to replicate and shouldn’t cost the earth. They are also fun and playful, exactly the vibe that’s been captured here….

DIY: Eclectic Boho Bunting Tutorial

This week’s DIY tutorial is brought to you by the very lovely Laura of Violet Bella blog. Laura has a really beautiful artistic and creative blog which I have loved to follow.

Between Laura and her equally creative partner James they have three Etsy shops, full of handmade bohemian treasures. You can check them out here: Violet Bella Shop, Roots and Feathers Shop, Skyline Forever

? ? ? ? ?

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (13)

Over to Laura…

“I wanted to make this bunting for our new house since we found out we got it!  And since i dont have any curtains for my windows yet, it was the perfect little thing to make it cute.  You can make this for any space though.  It would be super cute on a mantel or in a doorway, or even just strung on the wall.

MATERIALS NEEDED
  • trim, ribbon or really anything for the main part
  • trinkets, ie: doilies, photos, buttons, feathers, etc
  • scissors
  • needle & thread or sewing machine

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (12)

INSTRUCTIONS

Sew any parts that need to go together first.  My vintage lace was too short, so I sewed 3 peices together to make it longer.  I also needed to sew the pom poms on the velvet strip.

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (11)

Once all of your little pieces are put together, lay it all out on a large flat surface and place everything where you want it to go.  This is the fun part.  Change things up until you get it just right in your eyes.

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (10)

If you want to add a photo (or bookmark like i did), all you need is a hole puncher and yarn.  I just tied it in a loop in one of the holes of the lace.

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (9)

Pin all of your pieces down so you dont lose their perfect place.  I like to pin it all at once so I dont have to keep coming back to the table for each piece.

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (8)

And its always nice to let your kitty help you decide too :)

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (7)

I used vintage ribbon to create two loops on the end for hanging.  You can use anything, yarn, string, ribbon, etc.

DIY bunting tutorial, wedding, craft, free, vintage (6)

For the feather, I just used a needle and thread and pulled it right through the stem, and attached it to the lace.  I wanted it to dangle, so I left a space between the feather and trim.

Then all you have to do is find the perfect spot in your home for your new little bunting!  I love this bunting so much more than a typical fabric bunting (not knocking them, i love them too)… just b/c it can be so personal with your own stuff.  Use stuff that has alot of meaning to you, and you will enjoy it so much when you walk past it and are reminded of great memories!

? ? ? ? ?

Thanks so much to Laura for sharing this tutorial. Sadly Laura has recently been hit by tragedy so my thoughts are with her right now and hoping she pulls through this time and continues along her creative path.

A creative, quirky and artistic DIY wedding: Tamara and Aaron {Part 2}

Joyeuse Photography, Offbeat, Quirky, Tamara and Aaron, Wedding Photography, DIY (4)

Happy Wednesday,

Hope your middle of the week if fabulous. Yesterday I featured a rather amazing young couple and followed their love story right from the super-creative street-art proposal video, through to their pre-wedding adventure shoot in the woods to their tender and lovely wedding ceremony.

Tamara and Aaron are certainly ‘loves young dream’, and now you get to follow the final part of the wedding adventure as I bring you their wedding reception.

My favourite details without doubt are:

  • All the quirky, handcrafted signs and props
  • The cute lightbulb garland
  • Wooden box floral centrepieces
  • Those brilliant donut cake-toppers
  • And that rocking party!

Photographer Tahni Candelaria Holm - Joyeuse Photography said: “The sheer number of detail shots I captured are overwhelming, I had such a hard time deciding which photos to use. Aaron- the groom- is a visual artist and also does some cinematography, and well, his and Tamara’s wedding is full of some of the most unique decor I have seen yet. If I could sum up “creative wedding” in one set of pictures- it would be these.  One of the coolest parts of this wedding was how I got to be their photographer. Green Wedding Shoes published their engagement video this past winter and I commented on the post saying that I wanted to be their wedding photographer because they looked so creative. Lo and behold – Tamara found me on Twitter and the rest is history.

A creative, quirky and artistic DIY wedding: Tamara and Aaron {Part 1}

Joyeuse Photography, Offbeat, Quirky, Tamara and Aaron, Wedding Photography, DIY, Creative Wedding, (5)

If you missed it earlier I featured a pretty epic proposal video followed by a quirky and unique pre-wedding adventure in the woods for this artistic couple and their bridal party. There were masks and theatrics and really it gave a very good flavour of the wedding you’re about to see.

Awesome. Epic. Super-creative. Full to the brim of unique, crafty details and a whole heap of FUN.

There is also such attention to detail, I love the cute little touches including

  • Tamara’s gorgeous pink and perspex shoes, short pre-wedding dress and cute little bow necklace
  • The handmade and unusual buttonholes that the groomsmen are rocking
  • The dog – how can you not love the dog?
  • The confetti blanket hanging above their heads in the trees – creates such a fantastic effect and much better than everyone just throwing it at you and hoping they hit the right spot.
  • Their intimate and tender portrait shots

Photographer Tahni Candelaria Holm of Joyeuse Photography said: “Prepare yourself for some of the most artistic details, the coolest/silliest wedding cake known to man, a truly fantastically offbeat bride, some spectacular california vegetation, and just a beautiful story.”

A creative, quirky and artistic pre-wedding adventure: Tamara and Aaron

So a little while earlier I posted an amazing proposal video by a super-cute and creative couple.

So are you now ready for the most artistic and creative wedding ever known to man? Well first of all there’s a pre-wedding shoot to share – oh how I love Tamara and Aaron. They’re young, full of adventure and one inspiring young couple.

Their photographer Joyeuse Photography told me: “Tamara and Aaron had the most fun wedding party photos I’ve ever done. We all piled into cars, only minutes before the ceremony, and drove to the woods to create this funny little story. The groom created all the props, and everybody had a blast acting it all out”

Love Story: A street-art tour leads to the most creative proposal EVER

street-art-proposal, tamara and aaron, wedding proposal video, awesome

Street Art Proposal from Vanden on Vimeo.

So it’s Tuesday, the day that’s a little bit boring, you’ve long forgotten the weekend and the next one is still so far away.

Well this Tuesday just got a whole lot more interesting…check out this video and tell me you don’t think it is the sweetest, most awesome proposal EVER.

Aaron Vanden is the man behind it he collaborated with multiple artists to create a secret street art “tour” to propose to his girlfriend Tamara. Each piece of street-art signified a period in Aaron and Tamara’s relationship, leading up to the last piece where he popped the question.

In Tamara’s words: “We were in Bend, OR [where Aaron's immediate family lives] for Thanksgiving 2010.  The day before Thanksgiving, Aaron suggests we go explore the downtown area and take pictures.  We go first to Townshend’s Tea where the music they are playing just so happens to be every song that has ever been significant to us [not a coincidence. The day before Aaron had literally bribed the worker to play a playlist from his ipod].  Then we walk around the downtown area and stumble across gorgeous street art that just so happens to be up. After seven of these pieces, Tamara starts to wonder what is up.  Then, under the premise that they are going to a rooftop restaurant, Aaron leads Tamara up to a roof where there the final, giant piece- a huge cutout guy and girl and in between them the words “Marry Me”.  All of the street art we saw was orchestrated by Aaron and his friends and each piece was symbolic of a different season of our relationship”.

Aaron created the street-art in conjunction with: Simon Stutts (simonsayscreative.com), Nic Trent (nictrent.com), Ty Bishop, Jane Sheldon (janesheldon.net) and his family. You can see the street-art pieces in more detail here on Flickr.
