Love Luxe Launch: A Pocketful of Dreams designed Tablescape

by

So we’re finally back in the office today after our whirlwind few days of attending the Love Luxe Launch event and providing some wedding styling inspiration in the form our very own designed tablescape. If you’ve been following the blog and our twitter feed this week you’ll know all about our little trip to Bristol if not you can catch up here on Wednesday’s mood board post to find out a little bit more.

I am delighted to share with you today so many incredible images of our finished tablescape design. With almost 100 photographers in one room, as well as bloggers, stylists, florists, cake and stationery designers it was a real hive of creativity. Vicki and I had a ball that day, seeing our ‘Colour Pop Dreams’ design come together and loved soaking up the atmosphere as well as chatting to lots of industry folk.

THE DREAM TEAM

We worked with an incredible team to bring our ‘Colour Pop Dreams’ tablescape design to life and I’m going to tell you a little more about each one of them next week, so keep your eyes peeled to find out more about these guys….

  • David at Frog Flowers in Manchester’s Northern Quarter for the florals
  • Beth at Cakes by Beth for the cake and edible items
  • Erin at Berinmade to create a number of unique lettering and stationery items.

THE DESIGN

For now here’s a little insight into what we did….

“Colour, fun and vibrancy was the focus of our tablescape to showcase a modern and fresh approach to wedding design.

Our aim was to create a setting that combined both beautiful and creative details but one that was also quite achievable for couples to recreate.  So it was bursting with DIY and steal-worthy details.

We created a wall of flowers to provide a whimsical and beautiful backdrop to our table, using the  ornate trellis in place at the Orangery setting at Goldney Hall, single stems were woven into the trellis, along with flowerheads.

Starting our tablescape with a Laura Ashley cream wooden table, the perfect blank canvas, which was flanked by four upcycled dining chairs. These were a recent flea market find that we reupholstered in hessian fabric with jute rope trim, adding splashes of vibrant colour by giving a lick of paint to the legs and finally dressing the backs with coloured wool for a unique chair-back design.

A hot-pink trimmed hessian table runner gave us the perfect neutral platform to design upon. Placing shimmery gold boxwood planter centrepieces along the runner, each filled with colourful blooms from Frog Flowers. The flower arrangements combined the rich hues of purple, yellow and hot pink Mokara orchids, with rosemary, green hypericum berries and echeveria succulent plants for contrast and texture. Not to mention the most delicious scent.

The centrepiece was topped off with a glittery gold SEVEN table number, in the magnificent Berinmade signature illustration style.

Two further flower arrangements, one in a gorgeous gold teapot, and one with hot pink and yellow edged Gloriosa lilies and artichokes balanced each end of the table perfectly. Whilst delicate gold votives added a little light and texture to the space.

To enhance all the gold the place settings were a riot of colour, starting with a golden slate placemat, we stacked hot pink and gold plates with a beautiful handmade napkin nestled in the middle, made from In the Wind, a lightweight echino fabric by Etsuko Furuya from The Eternal Maker.

We used gold cutlery and enhanced these with hot pink dipped ends for a modern look. A cute blue animal figurine kept a watchful eye over each setting.

For a really fresh and modern take on the traditional place card we used the beautiful illustrated typography of Berinmade to create hot pink vinyls of each guests name which were added to the gold plates. These would also make perfect favours for guests to take away and treasure.

But we like to really spoil our guests here at Pocketful of Dreams so we provided another idea for a table gift in the form of these gorgeous chunky earthenware pots by Seld, which we painted blue to match our design and filled with a mixture of echivaria succulents, including Vicki’s favourite: The Hairy Succulent.

A gold Thank-You vinyl was added to the pots as well as a Let Love Grow topper to add a splash of hot pink, again by Berinmade.

We created two cocktails to complement the design, a Watermelon Gin Fizz served in gold dipped martini glasses with a delicious gold sugar rim and topped off with a beautiful physalis.

Of course no celebration is complete without a little fizz, ours was served in Bohemia Crystal champagne flutes, delicately decorated with pomegranate seeds.

And we offered up these cute and quirky gold animal topped drink stirrers for a little fun factor.

For the sweet treats we wanted to provide a few new and fresh ideas, moving away from traditional cupcakes and cake pops. So Cakes by Beth provided a selection of marshmallows on sticks and brought them bang up to date with a dusting of glittery gold and sugary purple.

Gold leaf plates offered up a selection of gold peppermint creams and each place setting was completed with the most delicious looking cookie-pop, all of which were adorned with tiny leaves to replicate the pattern of the napkins.

Finally a round, ombre-pink buttercream cake with glittery gold disc toppers was displayed atop a gold crystal cake stand to satisfy even the sweetest of tooth’s.

To get our guests interacting with each other Berinmade created a beautifully tactile card in a natural stock with gold glitter detailing, inviting guests to share their advice for a Dream Marriage. These were displayed on mini gold easels next to each place setting.

The piece de resistance however was our art installation hanging in the trees outside the Orangery.

We created a gold LOVE shimmer sign which looked really beautiful as it gently glistened in the wind. Made from a hundred metallic gold mirrored discs which hang slightly away from the wood backing so they are able to move gently with the wind and as they do so catch and bounce the natural light around.

It really is a gorgeous effect and one so many people on the day fell in Love with, literally. The signs are a new venture for us and are available for hire, we’ll be revealing full details next week.

Special thanks to all the photographers on the day who took some incredible images, the ones featured here have been credited individually and include:   Anneli MarinovichCaro HutchingsLeo BojesenGreen PhotographicRosie Parsons and to Love Luxe Blog for inviting us to be a part of this exceptional event.

And an extra special uber-thanks to my creative team, Vicki DeBlasi who really did work her socks off to help me both design and style the table, David at Frog Flowers , Beth at Cakes by Beth and Erin at Berinmade. It was a wonderful opportunity and experience and one I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

If you are planning your own celebration I hope this design has given you some inspiration, please do let us know which bits you like, love, loathe. We’re all for feedback here at POD.

  5. Amazing amazing detail! It’s the marshmallow pops, table number, ‘place cards’, flowers, napkin, colour, dipped-in-paint effect, (er well everything!) that are especially doing it for me. Love it.

  6. Thanks for all your lovely comments – it’s great to hear everyone’s feedback. Those marshmallow pops were probably one of my favourite elements (after the hairy succulents, obviously!)
