Good Morning Lovelies

I hope your week is going well so far.   October certainly seems to have brought us all a fair bit of rain and gloominess and so it seemed only fair to cheer up your morning with this beautiful love shoot, full of sweet treats, stunning light and fairground frolics.  These fantastic shots come from the uber talented Britta Schunck and were taken in Dusseldorf, Germany at the largest funfair on the Rhine.

Nina and Martin first met in August 2007; Nina had just made the decision to move to Denmark and so finding love was the last thing on her mind.  Around the same time, a close friend of Nina’s moved to Dusseldorf and it was at her housewarming party that she met Martin.

“It was not typical love at first sight.  We liked each other though, starting phone each other and met up once in while for coffee but that was all.”  Over time however, this cute couple started talking more and more frequently until Nina realised that she was starting to fall in love despite it being the last thing she had wanted. “I was totally confused and I was going to Denmark in six months time but I knew I could not fight my feelings for Martin any longer.”

Things got off to a shaky start though.  The couple shared their first kiss at a party before Martin left without even saying goodbye and Nina decided to swear off men altogether!  Two months later however, the couple met up again during Carnival time, shared another kiss and from that point on were inseparable.  “Even my eight month trip to Denmark didn’t separate us – it just brought us closer together”.

Nina had always been fiercely adamant that she didn’t want to get married, believing weddings to be stuffy affairs and she had made her feelings about this known to Martin.  But in 2009, Martin’s sister got married and things started to change.

“When Martin’s sister got married, I caught the bridal bouquet; it was hilarious as I’d told Martin earlier in the day that he would never see me as a bride!  But from that day, something changed.  From month to month I thought about it more and more, until I found myself searching wedding blogs.  I had clearly told Martin that I didn’t want to get married so I knew I couldn’t expect a proposal from him.”

Eventually, Nina confided in her sister about how she was feeling.  After a lot of encouragement and persuasion, Nina decided to take matters into her own hands and so one day when they were at the Rhine, she popped the question.  And as per the badge Martin wore for their funfair shoot, he said “yes”!
