So if you saw my Winter Spice mood board over on Love My Dress blog last week you’ll know I’m having something of a winter love-in.
It is true I am rather fond of winter, particularly when there’s lots of snow on the ground, for me everything just looks so magical and sparkly. And I know winter weddings are becoming ever more popular, but it does bring up something of a dilemma where The Dress is concerned.
Obviously you don’t want to be shivering all say, chattering teeth isn’t such a good look. But fear not my lovelies for there are so many bridal designers out there who are creating more winter-friendly designs, particularly with long sleeves or heavier fabrics.
I have selected a few from my favourite designers, ranging from purse friendly high-street, to blow the budget couture. Hopefully there will be something for everyone in this little selection…..

These amazing creations by Claire Pettibone are actually from the 2012 collection and I have it on good authority they will be available in the UK from next February. Such stunning designs, I particularly love the Toile Francais with it’s neo-gothic victoriana vibe, which remains delicate with the pale blue detailing and wow what a back view!

The Iris from Sally Lacock is perfect for the Winter Spice style I featured on Love My Dress in it’s lovely taupe shade. Made from silk jersey with long-sleeves the Iris is also available in ivory. Sally also has a beautiful cape available The Adrienne, not pictured.

Yemi Osunkoya the couture bridal and evening wear designer behind the Kosibah label has created these two stunning gowns the Irina and the Delphine, perfect for winter weddings, with their long sleeves and sumptuous fabrics. Kosibah specialises in contemporary and elegant designs with a made-to-measure bespoke service.

The two above are from luxury bridal expert Stewart Parvin, a master in creating wonderfully grown-up gowns that really flatter the female shape. For the discerning bride Stewart Parvin, offers a made-to-measure and bespoke couture services at his exclusive London boutique.

The delicate floral appliqués dance across this white mesh dress. With it’s wide neckline and sheer long sleeves the Long Evelyn Dress from Alice by Temperley is a contemporary take on bridalwear and one that won’t break the bank at £507 from Shopbop

Another equally stunning and purse-friendly option is this soft white Classic Victorian lace gown which is a modern update on vintage romance. A high neckline gives way to a dramatic open back. Nightcap Clothing Classic Victorian Lace Gown £420.00 from Shopbop

The Leontine gown by Joanne Fleming Design is outrageously sophisticated with it’s heavy silk-crepe and open back. This is actually a design from Joanne Fleming’s latest collection, for those who don’t know Joanne creates bespoke bridal and evening wear from her studio in Brighton. Well worth a call for those brides looking for something dazzlingly original.

Charlotte Balbier has also come up trumps with the Ava gowns from her Candy Kisses collection. Featuring a french lace bodice with a satin sash and vintage diamante clasp with a long and flowing tulle skirt and train, perfect for the modern day princess. Available in Ivory only. See here for stockists.

The Biba Alexa Bell Sleeved Gown at £695.00 House of Fraser is a high-street option, reminiscent of seventies retro-chic. I see this one with the addition of a big floppy hat and perhaps a beautiful fur coat.
Of course a winter bride needs to ensure she stays warm and toasty so join me later for a selection of chic cover-ups.
Are you a winter bride? I’d love to hear more about your chosen bridal wear, are you having long-sleeves or braving the elements in a strappy, slinky number. What are you doing to ensure you stay warm and keep those chattering teeth at bay?
