Field Notes: October | From the Cotswolds to the City

Field Notes: Cotswolds Insider Guide

Field Notes is our monthly dispatch from the world of Pocketful of Dreams: a glimpse into what’s inspiring us right now, the projects taking shape behind the scenes, and the design details catching our eye. From the Cotswolds to the city, these are the stories, textures and ideas shaping our creative season.

A Change in Tempo

October always brings a shift in energy within the world of weddings and events. The summer whirlwind of celebrations has eased, and we find ourselves turning inward, reflecting on what we’ve created, refining our systems, and nurturing new ideas for the year ahead.

It’s also the moment the next season begins to stir. As engagement season approaches, our inbox fills with newly engaged couples, each reaching out with fresh dreams for 2026 and 2027. There’s a palpable sense of anticipation, and a quiet build of creativity ready to unfold.

For us, October is equal parts reset and reimagine: a month that invites stillness, strategy, and inspiration in equal measure. And one that reminds us that creativity often comes from stillness – as the world slows, ideas take root.

Behind the Scenes

This month the studio has been a hive of quiet creation. We’re welcoming a new wave of enquiries as engagement season approaches, whilst finalising proposals for 2026 weddings at some of our favourite venues including Wilderness Reserve and Heckfield Place, each one designed with a distinct personality yet united by our signature approach: considered gatherings that feel deeply personal.

We’re also updating our Planners Playbook series with fresh insights for couples at every stage of the journey, offering a transparent look at what it truly takes to plan a high-touch, multi-day celebration.

Amidst all this, we’ve been reflecting on our own systems and rituals, the behind-the-scenes frameworks that ensure every project flows with calm precision. There’s beauty in that quiet work too.

Out in the World

Autumn in the Cotswolds is pure poetry. Market towns glow under string lights, farm shops brim with harvest produce, and the scent of woodsmoke lingers in the air.

On the Road

While autumn has us grounded in the Cotswolds studio, October also took us further afield for a series of inspiring visits and conversations across the UK.

We spent a day at Estelle Manor, meeting with their events team for a private tour of Fallow House, their dedicated events space. It’s a beautifully considered addition to the estate, marrying contemporary design with Estelle’s signature sense of quiet luxury. We left brimming with ideas and excitement for future opportunities to collaborate there.

Later in the month, we travelled down to River Cottage in Devon, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s iconic farmstead, for an overnight stay. The visit included a behind-the-scenes tour of the grounds, a farm-to-table feast, and a cookery demonstration that perfectly captured the ethos of provenance, connection and conviviality that we love to weave into our events.

These experiences remind us why we do what we do: always exploring, always learning, and always seeking out the people and places that shape how we design and celebrate.

What we’re loving

A growing appetite for intimacy. We’re seeing more couples embracing weekend-long gatherings that feel immersive yet relaxed, spaces where guests can truly connect.

Design-wise, we’re drawn to tactile contrasts: butter-soft velvet alongside weathered oak, candlelit amber tones softened with parchment and linen. It’s a palette that feels both timeless and comforting, echoing the season outside our windows.

What’s coming up

We’re heading into team strategy sessions for 2026, with an away day dedicated to mapping our content, refining client journeys, and aligning our creative direction for another busy season of events.

Beyond the Cotswolds, we’re also heading to London for key supplier meetings, catching up with some of our most trusted creative partners and discovering new talent within floristry, production, and design. These conversations always spark fresh inspiration and help us stay at the forefront of what’s possible for our clients.

And with several venue site visits lined up, from historic manors to hidden countryside estates, we’ll be deep in discovery mode, exploring new spaces to add to our little black book of unforgettable settings. It’s one of our favourite parts of the process: finding the places where the next wave of stories will unfold.

These are the moments that keep our work purposeful, the time to zoom out, dream big, and prepare to make it all happen.

Here’s to a season of thoughtful design, meaningful gatherings and moments that feel as good as they look.
