California-Cool Cotswolds Wedding, Cornwell Manor
A laid-back yet refined Cornwell Manor Wedding blending Californian style sensibilities with Cotswolds elegance
The Brief
Set within the storybook setting of Cornwell Manor, this three-day wedding for our New York–based couple blended laid-back Californian cool with English countryside charm.
They envisioned a celebration that felt fun, relaxed, yet elegantly refined. A weekend of meaningful moments, incredible music, and design that felt interior-led rather than traditionally “wedding.” Think Soho Farmhouse energy meets editorial minimalism: grounded, sensory, and full of personality.
The overall aesthetic leaned into rich, earthy tones softened with olive green, coral and merlot creating a refined, layered palette that felt warm and modern. The design was rooted in texture and materiality, natural linens, tactile draping, bespoke furniture, and bold statement details.
Rather than an abundance of flowers, we focused on impactful interior moments: sculptural bar florals, curated vignettes, and a purpose-built marquee that transformed seamlessly from relaxed dining to late-night revelry. Every choice reflected the couple’s style and ethos: beautiful, intentional, and deeply personal.
The Setting
Cornwell Manor, a private estate nestled in the Cotswolds countryside, provided a timeless backdrop for this design-forward celebration. The estate’s exquisite Georgian façade and formally landscaped gardens are among the most beautiful in the region with manicured terraces spilling into wildflower meadows, and a reflecting canal that captures every golden hour.
A venue we know intimately as it is minutes away from our Cotswolds studio, Cornwell Manor offers both grandeur and intimacy, allowing a celebration to unfold across its grounds like a story told in chapters.
The Celebration
The weekend unfolded across three unforgettable days at the turn of summer into autumn. It began with a Thursday orchard dinner and Friday welcome party at the nearby Swan at Ascott-under-Wychwood, relaxed, joyful gatherings that set the tone for what was to come.
On Saturday, anticipation built through a morning of excitement and laughter as the couple prepared with their nearest and dearest. The ceremony took place in the water garden, framed by the estate’s elegant fountain and tree-lined canals. Beneath a soft, tented canopy, guests watched as the couple exchanged vows on a handcrafted wooden stage, surrounded by wildflower meadows that blurred seamlessly into the landscape beyond.
Cocktails and canapés followed in the gardens, before guests moved through to a purpose-built black-framed marquee, a study in layered design and atmosphere. Inside, the tone was vibrant yet restrained:
Hand-painted linens by Maison Margaux in soft greens and white brought warmth and whimsy.
A bespoke tiled bar in earthy tones, designed as the marquee’s focal point, drew guests together with effortless elegance.
The backdrop, a statement olive-chartreuse drape, added a bold, joyful pop that transformed the space from “wedding” to “stylish pop-up restaurant.”
As dinner concluded, the reveal began. Hidden behind the dining drape, an after-party space emerged in deep, sultry red carpet and draping creating an immersive, club-like atmosphere. A mirrored bar and stage completed the transformation, with cocktails by The Drunken Jockeys and a setlist by The Lexington Allstars that kept guests on their feet until the early hours.
Every moment, from the laughter during speeches to the last dance, captured what the couple wanted most: a celebration of love, texture, and connection, filled with thoughtful details and effortless style.
