Inside Lime Wood Hotel: Exclusive Use Country House Hotel
FIELD NOTES: WEDDING VENUE INSIDER GUIDE
A country house escape in the heart of the New Forest where nature, luxury and laid-back elegance meet — the perfect canvas for a deeply personal celebration.
The Setting
Lime Wood Hotel is one of those rare places that feels both quietly grounded and effortlessly refined. Tucked into the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire, this Georgian manor sits amid ancient woodland, herb gardens and open glades, a landscape that feels wild yet curated, timeless yet unmistakably modern.
Its interiors are the epitome of relaxed sophistication: rich textures, muted tones, and a soft interplay of heritage and contemporary design. From the moment guests arrive along the winding forest drive, the atmosphere feels calm, creative and deeply considered, a natural fit for couples seeking a setting that combines English country charm with modern luxury.
Whether it’s an intimate weekend gathering or an elegant takeover, Lime Wood lends itself to both sophistication and subtlety. Every corner, from its airy courtyards to its candle-lit lounges, feels purpose-built for connection.
“The grande dame of country house hotels, Lime Wood is a place of sanctuary, solace and celebration”

The Spaces
Lime Wood’s charm lies in its flexibility. The house itself offers a collection of beautifully proportioned rooms that flow seamlessly together, ideal for ceremonies, cocktails and private dining. The Drawing Room and Scullery are perfect for intimate gatherings, filled with natural light and views of the surrounding woodland. Lime Wood is most suited to smaller celebrations of up to 80, with a dinner party wedding feel within their restaurant space, for slightly larger celebrations, the team can transform the grounds with a bespoke marquee, creating space for 110 for dining, dancing and late-night festivities beneath the stars.
At the heart of the experience is Hartnett Holder & Co, the restaurant led by chefs Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder. Their seasonal, ingredient-led menus are a masterclass in understated indulgence, locally sourced, beautifully plated, and delivered with relaxed, confident service. From forest-foraged canapés to candlelit feasts, food here becomes part of the story.
“Responsibly sourced, inventive food should be at the heart of every getaway.”

Design that feels effortless
Having curated celebrations at Lime Wood previously, and with another in the making for Summer 2026, we’ve come to appreciate its rare ability to hold beauty and ease in equal measure. Our design philosophy here always begins with the landscape: layering natural materials, soft palettes and organic florals that echo the surrounding forest. See our Lime Wood weddings portfolio for a closer look at how we brought this setting to life one magical Summer.
We often describe Lime Wood as quiet luxury — where design doesn’t need to shout to make an impression. It’s a space that encourages texture over excess, atmosphere over formality. Whether that means creating a candlelit woodland dining scene, or designing a modern marquee orangery that feels like a continuation of the house itself, every detail is guided by restraint and rhythm. It’s the perfect setting to create a wedding that feels as good as it looks.
“A hotel renowned for its timeless interiors, created by not one, but several high-profile designers, A series of classically proportioned drawing rooms have been given a modern twist with bold patterns and upholstery, tactile textures, and glossy fixtures and finishes”.

The Guest Experience
For guests, Lime Wood feels more like a home than a hotel. From the sweeping arrival to the fireside welcome, every experience feels deeply personal. Morning yoga or spa time at the award-winning Herb House Spa, afternoon walks through the New Forest, cocktails by the fire or dinner on the terrace, this is a place that invites guests to slow down and savour the moment.
It’s a perfect setting for a multi-day celebration: imagine a relaxed welcome dinner in the courtyard, a wedding day filled with light and laughter, and a brunch overlooking the gardens as the forest slowly wakes.
Why We Love It
As planners and designers, we’re drawn to places that hold stories, and Lime Wood does exactly that. It suits couples who value atmosphere over ostentation, who want to blend elegance with intimacy and let the beauty of their surroundings do much of the talking.
It’s a venue that invites creativity but rewards simplicity. Every celebration we’ve curated here feels different, yet each one shares the same thread: a sense of calm, refinement and authenticity that lingers long after.
For couples dreaming of a countryside celebration that feels deeply personal yet effortlessly elevated, Lime Wood is an extraordinary stage on which to tell that story.
